A hockey puck is at rest on a flat surface. Then one end of the surface is lifted gradually, forming an inclined plane of increasing slope. If you know _____, you can accurately predict the angle at which the puck will start sliding.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm guessing coefficient of friction. Friction will be the force that keeps the puck from sliding. If you know the coefficient of friction of the surface, you can multiply that by the normal force to get the frictional force that gravity will have to overcome. Finding the angle this happens is then straightforward.

static friction coeff, mu sub s.
