Given the geometric sequence where a_1 = 4 and the common ratio is 3, what is the domain for n?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\large\color{black}{ a_n=a_1 \times r^{n-1} }\) is a recursive formula for geometric sequence.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

when you say: \(\large\color{black}{ a_n }\) you are saying "the Nth term" you can have the: ~ 1st term. ~ 2nd term. ~ 3rd term. (and on) you CAN NOT have: ~ ZEROth term ~ negative 1st term ~ negative second term

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

which option do you choose (based on what I have said) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

All integers where n ≥ 1 All integers where > 1 All integers where n ≥ 4 All real numbers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think maybe a since it can be less than or equal to 1

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I see the options

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

n is less than 1? then you would have 0th term, negative first term, and on... but that is NOT a possiblity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I meant greater or equal to one so A?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\large\color{black}{ n \ge1 }\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!! :)
