While reading a chapter in a book about the history of the US economy, you read about how the economy added more corporate, professional jobs after World War II. Which development do you most expect the book to include as support for this detail?

OpenStudy (jacobbenvenutty):

I would say the development of the economy, so basically how it got better or worse when they added those jobs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well now im confused because that's not one of the possible answers on my test lol

OpenStudy (jacobbenvenutty):

Show me the answers then we can go from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. increased integration of women in the labor force during the war B. wages of workers remaining relatively stagnant during the war C. steep increase of business profits due to government contracts D. federal government preventing unions from striking during the war E. federal government enacting rationing to preserve goods

OpenStudy (jacobbenvenutty):

I would say A So for this question it is asking you to focus mainly on the subject of gaining corporate, and professional jobs. This means in my opinion E is out of the question as preserving goods does not have to do with corporate jobs. D is also wrong since strikes generally have to do with intolerable work conditions or less jobs. C is wrong as it has to do with profits not actual jobs. and B is wrong as it also has to do with profits, or more specifically wages.

OpenStudy (jacobbenvenutty):

The only answer out of all of those that has to do with incorporating more jobs/workers is A as it is the integration of women into the workforce. I would still look back into the lesson just to make sure

OpenStudy (jacobbenvenutty):

During WWII, women proved that they could do "mens" work, and do it well. With men away to serve in the military and demands for war material increasing, jobs opened up to women and upped their earning power.
