A company produces accessories for smart phones and tablets. The profit on each smart phone case is $2, and the profit on each tablet case is $3. The company made a profit of $1,200 on the cases last month. The equation 2x + 3y = 1,200 represents the company's profit from cases last month, where x is the number of smart phone cases sold and y is the number of tablet cases sold.

Describe how you would graph this line using the slope-intercept method. Be sure to write in complete sentences.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

you can always put it in a graphing calculator lol

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

how xD whats this mysterious way :P

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

do you actually want to graph this by hand?

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

how do i write the problem in it xD and no i defiantly defiantly do not want to graph anything by hand

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Mmmhm. they only want you to describe this by words right ?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

not actually graph it?

OpenStudy (danjs):

let y=0 and solve for x, (x,0) is your x intercept Let x=0 and solve for y (0,y) is your y intercept

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

yea not actually graph it just explain

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

:O what?? thats all i write??

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

we determined the -2/3x= slope 400=intercept

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

ok well your slope intercept equation was y=-2/3x+400 go you straight to the point 400(y intercept) using the slope -2/3 you would run 2 points down, 3 points across and repeat as slope is rise/run

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

if you want the x values to go to the negatives you would go up 2 points, and move left 3 and repeat so it looks like

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

clear?

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

u know whats crazy xD in #4 they want the graph -,-

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

on paper?

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

y=(-2/3x)+400 go straight to the point 400 (y intercept) using the slope -2/3. You will go 2 points down,3 points across and repeat. For x values- go up 2 points and move left 3.

OpenStudy (sparklestaraa):

thats what i wrote is it good. and also no its on either that graphing online or the paper
