Math help please! I dont understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The students of a school went on a picnic by bus. The number of students in each of x buses was the same. The number of rows of seats in each bus was four more than the number of buses. The number of students who sat on each row of seats was two more than the number of rows of seats in each bus. The expression below shows the total number of students in all the buses: x(x + 4)(x + 6) How can the total number of rows of seats in all the buses combined be calculated? By multiplying x and (x + 6) By multiplying x and (x + 4) By adding (x + 4) and (x + 6) By adding (x + 4) and (x + 2)

@iGreen

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I think just by expanding the expression, but even then you are not going to be calculating it. Rather you will be re-writing it in a different form. I don't think that any of the options are correct-:(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's C

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

you just pointed with your finger into a sky, and bingo....! Yes, C how wouldn't I notice this answer? ..... NOPE, JK, it's totally wrong L*L

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because that's the only logical answer, since none other exist. The only way I can think of to solve this is to FOIL it. That is not one of the given answers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No need for the arrogance @SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

adding them? why is that logical? you are clearly just guessing, nothing more-:( and arrogance is a good word:)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

hint: |dw:1419872477066:dw|

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

but it's multiplied times x, (or n, whatever you want to call it)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\large\color{black}{ x(x + 4)(x + 6)=x^3+10x^2+24x}\)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

Sorry @SolomonZelman please note that question requires number of rows of seats

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

no need for apologies.... but then what is the expression is given for?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think the result is n*(n+4), because it represents the total number of rows in all buses

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

oops...the answer is...

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

should be that, Michele
