Anne runs at a constant rate. The table shows the distance she traveled at specific times during her run. What is the slope of the line that represents Anne’s speed? Anne’s Speed Minutes 5 10 15 20 Distance (mi) 0.625 1.25 1.875 2.5

Can comeone explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

someone*

OpenStudy (danjs):

They tell you it is a line already, so...

OpenStudy (danjs):

constant rate = linear

OpenStudy (danjs):

you need to use 2 of the data points and find the change

OpenStudy (danjs):

\[slope = \frac{ \Delta ~miles }{ \Delta~~time }\]

OpenStudy (danjs):

take the two points to be (5 , 0.625) and (10, 1.25)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is the slope -10.2

OpenStudy (danjs):

slope = difference in the miles / difference in the time

OpenStudy (danjs):

\[slope = \frac{ 1.25 - .625 }{ 10-5 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-10.2

OpenStudy (danjs):

0.625 / 5 or about 0.125

OpenStudy (danjs):

the slope is 0.125 miles per minute

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i forgot about the 10 sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanx Dan

OpenStudy (danjs):

no prob, if they give you a table of values, and ask for the slope Just take the difference in the Y values divided by the difference in teh X values, in this case it was miles and minutes

OpenStudy (danjs):

for 2 points on the table

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kk

OpenStudy (danjs):

no prob
