What is the best way to rewrite this sentence? Arriving at his favorite place in the park, the man sat underneath an evergreen tree with a book. The man sat underneath an evergreen tree arriving at his favorite place in the park with a book. The man sat underneath an evergreen tree with a book arriving at his favorite place in the park. With a book, the man sat underneath an evergreen tree arriving at his favorite place in the park Arriving at his favorite place in the park, the man with a book sat underneath an evergreen tree.
Which do you think is correct ?
@HappySprout
Sorry someone was taging me in the math section. Weird.
*is
He must've tagged you again, cause you're gone. :P
Either that, or my computer is lagging like always.
Computer
honestly all of these ways are horrible.
Again, which do you think it is ? @HappySprout
World's most horrible sentences: \(\normalsize\color{blue}{ \rm The~~man~~arrived~~at~~the~~park~~and~~set~~in~~his~~favorite~~place, \\ underneath~~an~~evergreen~~tree,~~with~~~a~~~book. }\) (this is how I would say it)
or, you an write "with a book" right after word "place" instead.
You can write With a book in the beginning of the sentence if it follows a comma.
@SolomonZelman Can you not ?
Thank you!
You're welcome.
What do you mean, "can I not" , I am just saying that whatever this school the questioner is attending, has horrible English classes.
Why? because it is preferable (if not a must) for a sentence to follow parallelism.
Ha ha, I don't follow those complex steps. I just see which sentence makes the most sense.
all of the choices, are not "wrong", but for the least part, they are not very "appropriate." this is where a distinction between inappropriate and appropriate is drawn.
anyway, by no means do I want to interrupt, so stick to the options, is what I would council.
Ok
Yeah, I know. I hate it when I have those type of questions too.
