is anyone good at word problems
No, I suck at them:)
Wow thanks for that :)
haha omg yeah that's me
got one?
Jennifer was graphing a function and noticed that at certain points, the graph reaches invisible lines the graph will never cross. Explain to Jennifer what the two types of invisible lines are and how to predict them. You may create your own example to aid in your reasoning. Use complete sentences.
i know it's something with asymptotes
jeez invisible lines probably means a "horizontal asymptote" which is where the denominator of a rational function is zero for example \[f(x)=\frac{x}{x-2}\] would have a vertical asymptote at \(x=2\) thinking of \(x=2\) as a vertical line
ohh ok so basically I just say what vertical and horizontal asymptotes are and give an example of each? oblique asymptotes as well?
the other type is probably a "horizontal asymptote" which is a totally different type, it is the what happens to the function as x goes to infinity or minus infinity the geniuses at FLVS haven't figured out yet that a function CAN cross ifs horizontal asymptote, but no matter for example for \[f(x)=\frac{x}{x-2}\] the horizontal asymptote would be \(y=1\)
yeah say that
btw this doesn't really count as a word problem does it?
haha "geniuses at FLVS" and yeah I guess it doesn't
actually seems easier now
i made a guess that this was an FLVS question, am i right?
yup you are correct
algebra 2 FLVS
how'd i guess? the question has a mistake in it, that is how
yes! I find lots of mistakes in the lessons sometimes, even in quizzes and tests
I get so mad when I get a question wrong and I'm like "this has to be right!" so I call the teacher and she's like "oh it's a mistake in the question, here I'll give you full credit".
Usually happens with multiple choice stuff
but the test I'm doing right now is all fill-in-the-blank
sucks
i wrote them and told them about the problem they asked for specific question id numbers which of course i have no way of knowing
question id numbers? yeah the test doesn't have any of that, it only has my student id number at the top
i could probably talk to my teacher
