OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I want to make a quick point of how to do, and how not to do.... MODs, ADMINs and a/o (dis)agree pliz....

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm Helping~~people }\) in any group \(\normalsize\color{slate}{ \rm (other~than~a~Feedback,~Latex) }\) >> questions that have to do with problem solving. Use: \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm Definitions, }\) \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm Examples, }\) \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm Links, }\) \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm etc., }\) and \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ \rm GUIDE!!!! }\) \(\normalsize\color{red}{ \rm NOT! }\) \(\normalsize\color{red}{ \rm Steps~and/or~explanation }\) with the \(\normalsize\color{red}{ \rm answer. }\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I have seen many people post answer and explanation without any \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ learning }\) process so well known from: http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct Why do people get away with giving an answer with an explanation, if that is just like giving an explicit answer ruins any \(\normalsize\color{royalblue}{ learning }\) process that might have taken place.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

This is not fair that moderators see them do it and apparently take no action, because a second later you see the same violator break the rules again and again.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\Large\color{royablue}{ \rm I~~am~~not~~tagging~~anyone~~now }\) \(\LARGE\color{white}{ \left| \right| }\) \(\Large\color{royablue}{ \rm but~~if~~anyone~~wants~~to~~express }\) \(\LARGE\color{white}{ \left| \right| }\) \(\Large\color{royablue}{ \rm their~~opinion,~~feel~~free~~to~~do~~so! }\) \(\LARGE\color{white}{ \left| \right| }\)

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

I agree.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Some people keep doing it when I tell them to stop. When I am on the same post they follow the rules but later on they do the same old things again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really :( i always do Steps and/or explanation with the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And no one told be to stop

Nnesha (nnesha):

i thought that too but i guess they take actions against them may be just giving them warnings

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought just putting for example just putting the word b was wrong

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

elaborate please...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

elaborate...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what does that mean :/

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

explain what you really meant by that comment, because, I didn't quite understand the point you tried to make.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You said Use: Definitions, Examples, Links, etc., and GUIDE!!!! NOT! Steps and/or explanation with the answer.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes, I said that:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i do Steps and/or explanation with the answer. Most of the time and i didn't know that was wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And no one told not to do that

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

well, I am not very sure, if it is directly prohibited by \(\bf\color{roy}{\href{http:///openstudy.com/code-of-conduct}{Code~of~Conduct}}\) , but, when you do so, you know that the questioner will probably grab the answer without actually learning anything. The poster (of the question) has to understand and know how to do this (whatever it may be) type of problem in the future..... (you are fine)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okey :D

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

have fun, on openstudy:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u 2

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

will see what the empowered people say, but as it is now, I will temporarily leave this meeting.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, I agree.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Loads and loads of users do this and not too much action happens

OpenStudy (acxbox22):

i explain down to the last few steps but it gets annoying when in the middle of an explanation a random guy comes in and is like "the answer is A"

mathslover (mathslover):

http://openstudy.com/users/mathslover#/updates/539e5d3de4b0a128973fee1e You may like to have a look at this :) Is this what you're referring to, Solomon?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

It's clearly stated in the Code of Conduct `Don't post only answers - guide the asker to a solution` You don't actually need to provide them the final answer but need to guide them to the answer. This means explain the background and all the details required to conclude an answer and leave them at that point, let them conclude the final answer. It is better to guide the user to an answer rather than doing all the work yourself. We discourage giving out answers without letting the asker at least take some part in the analysis - Don't forget, the aim of this site is to teach.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

And as stated above, the code may be relaxed for questions posted on Feedback section

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait, people just give people the actuall answer and don't explain it.They really need to watch the crowd. If you made rules and people break them, you should atleast give them a warning that they are violating the rules. But just sittibng and watching is not the best idea.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*sitting

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

they do give out warnings, but those do nothing in most cases....

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I know people who give out plain answers, and they are achieving high smart scores, but face no consequences.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well,I don't think they realize that, you can get kicked out of school for that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My teacher told me and my class that today.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

In my post I was trying to draw a guideline... don't think I was specific enough though... Maybe one of the admins/mods can come with a fair definition for \(\large\color{blue}{ \rm learning~process}\), and for "giving out answers" that defeats the site's ultimate purpose (i.e. the learning process).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is not letting me type what I wanted to say.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

dky

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it letting you?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yes
