OpenStudy (anonymous):

A bacteriophage is a virus that infects and replicates within a bacterium. acteriophages are composed of proteins that encapsulate a DNA or RNA genome, and may have relatively simple or elaborate structures. Their genomes may encode as few as four genes, and as many as hundreds of genes. (quoted from wikipedia) A bacteriophage (or any phage at that) can be used in phage therapy, and were discovered to in fact be antibacterial agents! Here's a cool article all about bacteriophage therapy! http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC90351/ Hope this helps!
