Can someone explain how to solve this with graphing? 2x−y=5 x+4y=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

move the (y) to the right and graph 2x and 5y on the first on the second graph x-8 and 4y

Each equation describes a line. To graph a line, all you need is two points on the line, and a straightedge. To find a point on the line, you can plug in an x value, to get a y value. The x and y value will give you the coordinates of a point. You have to repeat this again to find another point. Use a straightedge to draw a line that passes through both points. This is your first line

Repeat this procedure using the second equation. The coordinates of where your lines intersect should be the x and y values that satisfy both equations.

the answer is y=2x-5 x=-4y+8 i think
