WILL FAN If someone could explain how this works, that would be great, seeings how I obviously don't understand this. THANKS Select the equation that would have the y-intercept of -6 A. -5x + 6y = 30 B. 5x - 6y = 30 C. 6x - 5y = 30 D. -6x + 5y = 30

You know that the equation of a straight line is usually written as "y = mx + b" ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not really, I have only been learning this for 2 weeks...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Aha, well then. You want to write out the equations on that form firstly, because in that form you will see the slope of the line and the starting number (when x = 0) of the line very easily. The starting number is even the y-intercept!

I think I get it..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) Manipulate the equation so that y is alone on one side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get it! Thank you soooooo much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually, when you find the x- or y-intercepts, you don't need to make y alone on one side. Simply replace the x with 0 and y with the given y-intercept,
