OpenStudy (ironpatriot):

When the cell duplicates chromosomes and separates into two separate nuclei, the cell is said to be in what phase?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, the chromosomes are duplicated in a different phase than when the separation into two nuclei occurs. @IronPatriot Do you have any more info about the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are two main phases. Interphase, which is divided into three parts G1, S, and G2, DNA is duplicated in S. The next phase is M phase. This is where all the work to separate the DNA and other cellular materials to generate new cells. IMPORTANT NOTE! This applies to Eukaryotes, not prokaryotes. Prokaryotes do not undergo these phases and do not replicate via mitosis or meiosis. They replicate via binary fission.
