Shoot, this is like what I am doing!
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol @haleyelizabeth2017
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
First, we need to multiply this whole thing by 3, to remove the fractions :)

Alright, How would we do that
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
Well just multiply it by 3 to get
\(2x+8=6^x\)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Haa i see
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
The threes on the left in the denominators cancel :)

I'm still here :) my computer is just lagging :/ so it doesn't show me sometimes :(
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Yep that happens to me.. Keep disconnecting
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
there's a mistake in multiplying by 3
right hand side is 3 * 2^x not 6^x
OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):
okay sorry lol I haven't done this in a while so I will let you finish :)
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
that's ok

2x + 8 = 3*2^x
by inspection x = 2
as 2(2) + 8 = 3*2^2
12 = 12
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so 12 is the answer? @cwrw238
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Wait it cant be
OpenStudy (anonymous):
DAHH
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
n0 x = 2

I cant think of an algebraic way to solve it
one way would be graphical
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Solve the following system of equations:
OpenStudy (anonymous):
3x - 2y = 6
6x - 4y = 14
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
you can solve these by the method of elimination

OpenStudy (noelgreco):
I think the intent of the question is to simply substitute the possible responses into the equation.
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
first multiply the first equation by -2 then add it to the second
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Wait
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
yes - but its more instructive to try and solve them
have you done solutions of systems of equations @AleshGames
