What is the solution to the system of equations graphed below? There's an equation y=2x-7 y=-x-1 A. (4, 1) B. (2, -3) C. (0, -1) D. (3, -2)

@cwrw238 or @amanda7414 someone help..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay for this problem you can use substitution. do you know how to do that or what it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i don't know that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so basically you can substitute x or y from one of the equations to the other so -x-1=2x-7 i used -x-1 because that's what y equals in the bottom equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

from there you have to solve for x like a normal equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, what she said.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1420999409344:dw| so this is how you get x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is only one choice that has x=2 so its b.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok alright i see how you did that!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and if you need to get y you do the same thing but for y instead of x... obviously.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha ok thanks :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no problem! :D
