Which of the following points lie in the solution set to the following system of inequalities? y > -3x + 3 y > x + 2 (2, -5) (-2, 5) (2, 5) (-2, -5)

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Hey there! I saw you posted your question in math chat. What do you think should be done?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

graph the equations but im not sure how to do that

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

You could graph the equations, or you could just plug in the answer choices and see which one it true :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true but how would i do that?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Lets do the first option together k?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

The x-coordinate is 2 and the y-coordinate is -5. Now just plug those in for x and y. -5 > -3(2) + 3 -5 > (2) + 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but how would i know which is the correct answer

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Just plug in the values and solve, the see which option is true for both equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would you agree its C? @sleepyjess

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

What do you end up with for c?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3*2+3 -3+2 both are smaller than 5 aka y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sleepyjess

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yep :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@sleepyjess i have a few more if you are up to it
