OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

I give medals! I don't understand this homework problem. Please help!

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the third 1 tho

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

I did this before and I got it wrong. I don't really know how to do it.

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

@butterflydreamer can you help me?

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

@iambatman @iGreen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

all you have to do is plug in

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

plug in...what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok soyou locate the variable x and plug it in to each answer

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the equation of the line between the points \((5,40)\) and \((10,30)\) first find the slope, then use the "point slope" formula

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right 5, down 10 slope is \(-\frac{10}{5}=-2\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you can either use the point slope formula or just check if A or C is right by substitution

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

Is it A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know i didn't do it

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

oh ok but I think so because 40 is in the problem...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

probably not because the answer is always C in a multiple choice

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

oh haha

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

on this homework it has been either B or D on all of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it has nothing to do with the 40 if you plug in 5 for x you should get 40

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

oh. So is it A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\((5,40)\) means \(f(5)=40\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no it is not A

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

oh

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[f(x)=-2x+50\\ f(5)=-2\times 5+50=-10+50=40\] so C is the right one

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

cool. Thanks for helping!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw

OpenStudy (horsegirl27):

Yay 100% thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol
