Ethos, Pathos and Logos HELP!!!
I have to write an Article Analysis on this http://www.nysun.com/editorials/yes-virginia/68502/ and we have to describe how the author uses ethos pathos and logos and which the author uses more...I don't really understand ethos pathos and logos though
http://courses.durhamtech.edu/perkins/aris.html This article explains what they are good luck! (:
I know what they are, just not good at applying them as concepts
Ethos, pathos, and logos are persuasion techniqes that Aristotle coined. Ethos is where the author is convincing you of his credibility. Logos is an appeal to logic, like facts and figures and the like. Pathos is an appeal to the emotions. "Think of the children!" Does that make sense?
Revision: read previous comment. Is there anything specifically that you are having trouble understanding?
I just don't understand how to read the article and determine which parts use which method and which is used more
Honestly, this is something that I can't help you much with. The best way to tell is to first narrow out the pathos (the one that tries to go for the feels), then look for where the author is trying to establish that what he is saying is credible, and where logic is used.
What is your question?
That's the part i don't understand...
