Solve the following inequality for x. -10x + 2 > -38 - 12x

OpenStudy (igreen):

First we add 12x to both sides..what's -10x + 12x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-10x+12x >-38-2 ==> 2x>-40 ==> x>-40/2 ==> x>-20

OpenStudy (linn99123):

one second lemme work it out

120?

OpenStudy (igreen):

That's \(\sf -10x + 12x\) these are like terms..we combine them..we don't multiply them.. This is the same thing as -10 + 12, but putting an 'x' next to it. So what do you get?
