What is the differece between Chemical reaction and a Physical Reaction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are there any answer choices?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What my studies are telling me is that a chemical reaction changes the atoms while physical reactions are when it justy changes the place of the atoms, I was hoping for a more in-depth sort of answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have studied this before, but at the moment I can't really remember. All I know is that a chemical reaction causes a chemical change and that chemical reactions can form molecules. Maybe if you search online, you can find a more reliable answer, though. :)

Is it like when Methane burns, it makes Water and Carbon Dioxide?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am sorry if I wasn't much help. :(

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I am not sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's alright!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In a chemical reaction new substances are produced. That does not happen during a physical change.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So to be clear, it makes a new product?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, a chemical reaction makes one or more new products.

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

A physical change would be like water changing from liquid to a solid (ice) A chemical change would be H2O to hydrogen gas (H2) and oxygen (O2)
