I think it's b.

Let's use the online mean (arithmetic average) calculator for this. We will have to type in the data from the chart. http://www.alcula.com/calculators/statistics/mean/ This will be done twice. Once for the Group A data and once for the Group B data.

I am not into guessing answers. So, let's calculate the means.

OpenStudy (directrix):

Are you okay with that? You can calculate by hand if you like.

OpenStudy (tabpernick):

yes I am ok with that

OpenStudy (directrix):

I'm going over to the online calculator. I'll be back to compare answers with you for the means.

OpenStudy (directrix):

What did you get for the Group A mean? What did you get for the Group B mean?

OpenStudy (tabpernick):

i got 2

OpenStudy (directrix):

2 for what?

OpenStudy (directrix):

Do not round the result.

OpenStudy (tabpernick):

i mean i got 1 for group b and 2 for group a

OpenStudy (directrix):

That sounds as if you did not use the calculator and are guessing.

OpenStudy (directrix):

Just add up the numbers and divide by the number of scores. Those answers are not correct and neither is option B correct as far as I can tell.

OpenStudy (tabpernick):

okay let me do that hold on

OpenStudy (tabpernick):

i got 2 again

OpenStudy (directrix):

2 for which group?

OpenStudy (directrix):

@tabpernick

OpenStudy (directrix):

(1 + 1.5 + 3.03 + 3.2 + 2.8 + 1.5 + 1.8 + 2.5 +2.2)/9= (2+2.5+3.23+1.3+1.8+2.4+3+1.5+1.8)/9 = I don't get 2 for either of these. Do you see my error?

OpenStudy (tabpernick):

for you first one i'm still getting 2.17

OpenStudy (directrix):

Yes. Note that 2.17 is not the same as 2.

OpenStudy (directrix):

The second group has a mean of what?

OpenStudy (tabpernick):

Sorry :( for beign so frustrating anyway so the answer is choice a?

OpenStudy (directrix):

The mean of the second group is 2.17 so yes, option A.
