A box of mass 14 kg sits on an inclined surface with an angle of 52. What is the component of the weight of the box along the surface? A.108 N B.85 N C.137 N D.58 N

OpenStudy (snowsurf):

When do these choose your coordinate system, here rectangular coordinates work perfect and much easier.|dw:1422561783079:dw| Since Fg force from gravity is is not normal to the surface we have to break Fg into components Fgx and Fgy. The component along the surface is from using geometry. \[Fg _{x}=mg \sin (\theta)\] From here you can plug in the mass which is 14Kg and gravity which is 9.8m/s^2 and the angle and you will get the force along the surface.
