Federal Insurance Contributions Act tax is a United States federal payroll tax imposed on both employees and employers to fund Social Security and Medicare

OpenStudy (phi):

Do you know how to find the social security tax ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would i divide 1,273 by 6.2? @phi

OpenStudy (phi):

it's worth learning to translate tax is 6.2% of gross pay which you see "is" think "equals" or = when you see 6.2% think 6.2 per hundred or 6.2/100 or 0.062 which you see "of" think "multiply" in other words tax is 6.2% of gross pay translates to tax = 0.062 * gross pay
