OpenStudy (moonlight93):

What is the maximum mass of S8 that can be produced by combining 77.0 g of each reactant? 8SO2 + 16H2S ----> S8 + 16H2O I need to know this for an incoming exam, please help.

OpenStudy (korosh23):

Ok Now you have to find the limiting reactant and excess reactant. Add them up and that will give you the mass for S8.

OpenStudy (danjs):

24 Sulfur on reactant side ----- 8 Sulfur on the product side Should you put a 3 on the S8 term?

OpenStudy (danjs):

Put in the molar masses for both of those, where the ? marks are at. Then calculate. Do the same process, starting with 77.0 grams of H2S, and see how much S8 is produced. The one producing less is the Limiting Reactant, and will be the actual amount of product produced.
