OpenStudy (dtan5457):

What kind of reaction is this?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

\[Zn+2AgNO_3\rightarrow 2Ag+Zn(NO_3)_2\] From first glance, it certainly seems like a single replacement reaction especially as ZN is a more active metal than Ag, but apparently it's not. Can anyone explain?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

@DanJS

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Why is it not?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

My book says it's decomposition..

OpenStudy (korosh23):

This is single replacement.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Damn my regents book has a lot of mistakes.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

No, this is most certainly not decomposition.
