Why do cells use fat and starch for long-term energy storage instead of ATP molecules?

Fats are more susceptible to being stored as they are in form of large globules which cannot be broken down easily.Also, if you look at the structure of Adenosin tri Phosphate, you'll know it's very unstable, 3 negative charges joint together. It MUST break down to ADP and release a P to give the energy out much like an exothermic reaction.

it's actually because these substances are less easily broken and can store more energy, ATP is more readily accessible, lower energy sugar bonds easy to break and used for quick energy

fats and starch are insoluble so usage is not possible unless if its broken down its its only done when necessary and the one to activate this breakdown or synthesis are usually hormones

@dan815 cell never breaks down its storage fully fats for example can be completely broken down but only 25% of that broken down will be used while other 75% will be converted back to fat form

anyway there is only one reason to it the fact that the structure is so compact and not soluble makes them a good form to store energy for a long term @mattyboyy
