OpenStudy (thegamer007):

i dont know

this may help this question was asked some time ago http://openstudy.com/study#/updates/4fa95079e4b059b524f525c5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you but no thank you can you help me and explain it

OpenStudy (crissy15):

sure

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Well, Dalton's theory was: 1) All matter is made of atoms. Atoms are indivisible and indestructible. 2) All atoms of a given element are identical in mass and properties 3) Compounds are formed by a combination of two or more different kinds of atoms. 4) A chemical reaction is a rearrangement of atoms.

OpenStudy (neonumbrella5115):

Which one of these aren't true? HINT: In order to create the atomic bomb, something was done to atoms...

OpenStudy (crissy15):

Atoms cannot be destroyed, this is a basic one that everyone knows. Atoms can be destroyed. http://chemwiki.ucdavis.edu/Physical_Chemistry/Atomic_Theory/Postulates_of_Dalton%27s_atomic_theory

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am so confused

OpenStudy (crissy15):

ok so a statement from him: all the atoms of the same element are the same i all topics . ok so that was later proven wrong because they vary in their masses and density. ok ,then these are called isotopes, which may have different masses like 30 and 38.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i Explain the findings that changed the statement you listed

OpenStudy (crissy15):

the findings are what i stated need more facts http://www.learner.org/courses/essential/physicalsci/session4/closer3.html here's a whole writing on this subject
