OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Which statement describes the principal quantum number (n)? A. A subdivision of an energy level in an atom B. The quantum number that indicates the energy level of the electron C. The quantum number that indicates the subshell occupied by an electron D. The probability of finding the electron at a radius r from the nucleus

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

@JoannaBlackwelder D right?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

No, not D.

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

I know it has to do with electrons and how far away they are from the nucleus, so that's why i though it was D...

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Is it B?

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

Gotcha. You are right that higher n's are farther away from the nucleus. And B is correct :)

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

thank you! :)

OpenStudy (joannablackwelder):

You're welcome :)
