do you see any terms in common between w^3 and 16w ?
no, i would say the w but they have different powers,.....right
but w^3 is the same as w*w*w, so they do indeed have a single w in common
okay
so you'd factor out the common factor of w w^3 + 16w = w*(w^2 + 16) notice how I pulled out the 'w' and I'm writing it off to the left
