I recommend you graph the function. If you don't have a graphing calculator, use a free online one like desmos

OpenStudy (bananas1234):
What if i dont know how to graph it? @jim_thompson5910
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
you type in what they give you, so you type in |x+4|
you can type that in or type in "abs(x+4)" without quotes
either way is fine
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
or you can copy and paste if you want, but it's good to practice typing it out
OpenStudy (bananas1234):
Ok i can try

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
hold shift, then press the key right above the enter key

Got it!
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
so the turning point is where?
OpenStudy (bananas1234):
-4?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
list it as an ordered pair
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
each ordered pair is of the form (x,y) to give you the location on the xy plane

(0,-4)?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
not quite
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
that's if you started at the origin (0,0) and went down 4 units
OpenStudy (bananas1234):
(-4,0)?
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
correct, that's where the turning point is, at (-4,0)
