OpenStudy (smart8thgrader):

Which equation represents the graph of the linear function? A. y = −2x+ 1 B. y = −2x − 1 C. y = 2x + 1 http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/330000_330500/330014/1/96ea91906e83f413894b3efee43fb26cacfdd503/MS_ALG_S2_01_04_quiz_Q1_question.gif D. y = 2x − 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=mx+b where m is the slope, rise/run, and b is the y - intercept, where the line crosses the y - axis, by looking at y - intercept alone you can get rid of two options, so now you just need to see the slope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or you can use slope formula, what ever works for you

OpenStudy (rhystic):

First look at where the line crosses the Y axis which is your y intercept (-1) thus any equation that is not -1 can be crossed out ... youre left with b & d. next the slope is rise over run so take two points on the line and if either the rise or the run is negative then you have a negative slope. which in this case it is. so the answer is B. y=-2x-1
