You have 4 socks total, in which one of them is white, thereby giving you the fraction: 1/4. Thereby, the chance that Sasha will pull out a white sock on her first try is 1/4. Next, she tries again after putting the white sock back. There's a total of four socks again, thus giving us the exact same probability as before: 1/4. However, Sasha needs two white socks pulled out consecutively. Thus, what's the probability of getting two white socks in a row? You must then multiply the probability of getting white sock in try #1 and white sock in try #2.
