Help with some Frankenstein questions? Will give medals! Which of these is the most likely reason that frankenstein is written in an epistolary style? A) to sustain the reader's interest B) to connect the narrative to actual historical events C) to remind the reader that it is a work of fiction D) to create a tone of realism
Which excerpt from mary shelley's Frankenstein most clearly indicates victor's emotional state once he has created life? A) "I was surprised that... I alone should be reserved to accomplish something a secret." B) "Nor could I consider the magnitude and complexity of my plan as any argument of it's impracticability." C) "I rushed out of my room and continued a long time traversing my bed-chamber, unable to compose my mind to sleep." D) "When I found so astonishing a power placed within my hands, I hesitated... concerning the manner in which I should employ it."
I never read Frankenstein but I think I know the first one. What do you think it is?
Well, epistolary style is using letters, diary entries, etc, right? I wouldn't say it'd be B nor C, but maybe A? Because it is a unique style and it is easy to hold the reader's interest with it.
I personally think it is either A or D. Since writing letters is as real as it gets.
True, and of course the writer would want to make it as realistic as possible (thus why it isn't C) I'll see what other people think about A and D, though
The first answer is A. The word "epistolary" means in the form of letters, so it would be natural that the fragmented style of writing denoted by a format of written letters would catch the reader's interest and hold on to it.
