What was one reason that Patriots were more willing to go to war with Britain than the Loyalists? Loyalists believed Great Britain safeguarded their religious rights in the colonies. Loyalists believed American representatives in Parliament were corrupt. Patriots had closer political and business ties to transatlantic trade with Great Britain. Patriots were more likely than Loyalists to believe in the idea of consent of the governed.

The loyalists stayed with Britain primarily because they wanted the status quo to remain intact (Britain being in charge of the colonies). They wanted this for various reasons, but religious rights was not one of them (actually it was the opposite, Britain was restricting their religious rights). The loyalists would have fought against Britain if they thought their officials were corrupt, so it is not that either. The third answer would be correct if it said Loyalists instead of Patriots, so it is incorrect. Most loyalists did have direct economic ties with Britain that would have been broken if they joined the war on the side of the rebels. The last answer is correct because the Patriots wanted themselves to be governed by their own officials, not officials in England. The loyalists were okay with being governed by officials overseas for various reasons.
