OpenStudy (anonymous):

if two birds with similar morphology, but one type of birds makes a nest to court a female while the other male builds a nest to cooperate with the female, would you classify these birds as the same species or different?

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

Not enough information. Morphology alone does not determine if two individuals are the same species, and behavior sometimes varies and sometimes changes even among individuals of the same species, so it is not a good primary criteria for determining whether two individuals are of the same species. Analogous traits (broader term for similarity in morphology) may have arisen from a type of convergent evolution (or similar effect), in which two individuals of different species develop similar traits due to the similarity of their niche (environment where they live).
