Pls help me with this question! Factorize: 1-3x-3y-4(x+y)^2 Thanx!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait youve already used y sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[1-3x-3y-4(x+y)^2\] taking out -3 common from 2nd and 3rd terms \[1-3(x+y)-4(x+y)^2\] let x+y=t\[1-3t-4t^2=-4t^2-3t+1\] split your middle term and factorize, replace t with x+y
