OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^y=3 and x^t=16, what does x^y-t equal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@butterflydreamer could you help me with this problem please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that x raised to the y power?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x ^{y} = 3; x ^{t} = 16\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right your problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (adi3):

its a bit confusing and it is ment to be confused

OpenStudy (adi3):

x^y = 3 t = 16 16 - 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13

OpenStudy (adi3):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer says it's 1/8 though, that's what got me confused...

OpenStudy (adi3):

:////////

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, I am really confused was to what the problem is asking. Are you in the studying logrhythms?

OpenStudy (adi3):

is it round ur answer t o2 decimal or three decimal places

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah but this is from the SAT so it shouldn't involve logrhythms?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (adi3):

whts the full form of sat

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (adi3):

x^y = 3 should we do 3^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that equals 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know that 3 squared is 9 but what does that have to do with the original question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

may x is 3 and y is 1, thus 3^1 equals 3, but that does explain how you get 16
