Please Help! I'll Medal and Fan. 1. Determine which relation is a function. a) {(–3, 2), (–1, 3), (–1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)} b) {(–3, 2), (–2, 3), (–1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} c) {(–3, 3), (–2, 3), (–1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} d) {(–3, 2), (–2, 3), (–1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1)} 2.Determine which relation is a function. http://gyazo.com/4426a3c74947cdecfca6a87dfca40830

Hi @IndiiAvery! Do you still need help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@IndiiAvery

OpenStudy (anonymous):

check here http://www.mathsisfun.com/sets/function.html this should help

OpenStudy (indiiavery):

Yes, Please. @AMYCARTER

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To determine question 1, check the numbers in the domain of each pair (the second numbers) and see if any of them are the same and if there are numbers that are the same, it can not be a function. For example let's try choice A. (–3, 2), (–1, 3), (–1, 2), (0, 4), (1, 1) First pair Third Pair ↓ ↓ The first and 3rd pairs have the same domain, 2. See? -3,2 -1,2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So choice A can NOT be a possible answer.

OpenStudy (indiiavery):

Yes, Thank you @AMYCARTER and @TASL10th

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait so you have your answers @IndiiAvery?

OpenStudy (indiiavery):

Yes. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okayy, tell me which ones you chose so I can make sure :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@IndiiAvery

OpenStudy (indiiavery):

For #1 i chose answer number b and for #2 I chose d, Did I choose right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For #1 you are incorrect :/ {(–3, 2), (–2, 3), (–1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1)} The 3rd and 5th pairs have the same domain, 1 And #2 is also incorrect because two points intersect. I can help you to solve these if you want @IndiiAvery?

OpenStudy (indiiavery):

Please and Thank you

OpenStudy (indiiavery):

@AMYCARTER

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay let's start with #1! Now we already know that A and B are not right. Let's move onto C. (–3, 3), (–2, 3), (–1, 1), (0, 4), (0, 1) Are any of the points for the domain the same for any of the pairs @IndiiAvery?

OpenStudy (indiiavery):

-3,3 and -1,1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep! Which leaves us with D right?

OpenStudy (indiiavery):

Yeah :D
