Will Medal and Fan Evaluate the expression: |n| = –5.

Mehek (mehek14):

options?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 5 B. 1 C. 0 D. –5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mehek14

Mehek (mehek14):

|n| means that the value of n is the same as -5 doesn't matter if it is positive or not

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

for this you really don't even need answer choices. This is absolute value that means that any number positive or negative is the same distance from zero and will equal a positive number. so |-5| = 5 (because it is 5 points away from 0 and |5|= 5 because it is also 5 points away from 0 hope this helps! ~Bree :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it would be D?

Mehek (mehek14):

Can you choose more than 1 answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

Mehek (mehek14):

well there are two answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be 0, sorry thats what i meant

OpenStudy (bookworm14):

technically there is no correct answer choice here because absolute value NEVER equals a negative number, but if i was FORCED to pick, i would chose 0 :P
