Select all that apply. Meiosis is associated with the _____. diploid number of chromosomes haploid number of chromosomes autosome cells gamete cells

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think its diploid not 100% sure

OpenStudy (alexandervonhumboldt2):

Meiosis i/maɪˈoʊsɨs/ is a specialized type of cell division which reduces the chromosome number by half. This process occurs in all sexually reproducing eukaryotes (both single-celled and multicellular) including animals, plants, and fungi.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if i recall i think it was diploid and gamete cells :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i thought @GabeN0430

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's haploid and gamete. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dear god.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Meiosis is how our sex cells (gametes) divide. Each of those cells has HALF the normal number of chromosomes. (haploid)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is gametes. It is not diploid, because not all cells are diploid (2n). Many fungi and plants are 4n, 6n, etc. Some plants are 16n or more. It is not haploid because meiosis is not the only way to get to haploid. There is a parasexual pathway in some fungi that results in cells expelling chromosomes to become haploid, but not through meiosis. It is not autosomes. The only thing up there that is 100% meiosis related are gametes, the cells generated by meiosis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, it could be diploid and haploid, but I think those are not the best answers, though haploid is the result of losing half the chromosomes.
