Fraction?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this one 5 ?

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Hold on i will walk you through this like i did the last one :)!

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

First we simplify both sides of the equation giving us, \[\frac{ 6 }{ 5 }x + \frac{ -1 }{ 5 }\]

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

forgot to put = 3 at the end

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Then we add 1/5 to both sides, \[\frac{ 6 }{ 5 }x + \frac{ -1 }{ 5 } + \frac{ 1 }{ 5 } = 3 + \frac{ 1 }{ 5 }\]

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Which means

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

\[\frac{ 6 }{ 5 }x = \frac{ 16 }{ 5 }\] So now we divide both sides by 6/5 \[\frac{ 6 }{ 5 }x/\frac{ 6 }{ 5 } = \frac{ 16 }{ 5 }/\frac{ 6 }{ 5 } which gives us x = \frac{ 8 }{ 3 }\]

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

\[\frac{ 8 }{ 3 }\] is the simplified version of this equation/fraction.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so x = 8/3

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Yes!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you just won yet another medal

DivineSolar (divinesolar):

Thanks!
