Which of the following best expresses why newspapers took quite some time to become popular in the American colonies? Censorship by the English governors was common. This meant that the info in newspapers was very limited and colonists got most of their news from gossip. They did not. Newspapers actually became incredibly popular in 1690 with the printing of the first newspaper. Colonists most often got their news this way due to the English governors restrict
A i do believe
but i may be wrong
@PressureGaming This is straight from my lesson and what it says about newspapers. Newspaper History Mass media began in the fifteenth century in Europe with the invention of the printing press. Slowly, the technology made its way over to America. Newspapers were printed, but didn't really become a major thing until the late seventeenth century. When they did, though, they had a huge impact on life in the new country. One series of essays that appeared in the newspaper, The Federalist Papers even changed the way that the government was run. Can you imagine what it would be like if stores didn't all accept the same kind of money? Or what if you weren't allowed to attend your family's church? Can you picture what it would be like if you couldn't meet in groups with your friends or read whatever books you wanted? The Constitution guarantees all of these freedoms, and the media played a big role in helping it to pass. Even though the media was nothing like it is today (no Internet or television or even radio), it definitely influenced people just as much as it does now.
well then i am wrong.
