Find the slope of each line. through (4, -2) and parallel to x = 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the line is parallel to x=1, can you tell me what the gradient is?

OpenStudy (matthew120):

i hate this pellet

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

parallel lines have equal slopes, or the same slope thus, what's the slope of x=1?

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

|dw:1426031228332:dw| so, there, 2 points on that line x = 1 (1,3) and (1,2) find its slope it'd be the same as to any other line parallel to it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the slope is undefined.

@jdoe0001

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yeap you're correct the rise/run slope the "run" is always the same, 1 and thus 1-1 = 0 that makes the denominator 0 and makes the fraction "undefined" thus the slope of " line. through (4, -2) and parallel to x = 1" is ALSO "undefined"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand now. thank you so much! @jdoe0001
