You have a barrel of juice and you need to measure out just one gallon. How do you do this if you only have a three-gallon container and a five-gallon container?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use 2 of the 3 gallon one, and subtract it by the 5 gallon one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OHHH, I don't get it. .-.

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

oh.. what do you mean? you're kinda close, actually

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What I meant was to take out 3 gallons 2 times with the 3 gallon containers and fill up the 5 gallon container once, and subtract the 2 three gallon containers by the 1 five gallon container. xp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm, but how would you do that with only one 3 gallon container? xd

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH, I KNOW

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I GET IT NOW

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

haha XD so, what is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You fill up only the 3 gallon container, and dump it into the 5 gallon container, and do it again with the 3 gallon container a second time, until the 5 gallon container is full, then you have 1 gallon in your 3 gallon container.

:D

OpenStudy (bloomlocke367):

there you go XD good job
