@happybird7

OpenStudy (somy):

alright, why do you think its either A or D?

OpenStudy (somy):

whats the function of respiratory system?

OpenStudy (somy):

or even better question which organs make up respiratory system?

OpenStudy (somy):

for nutrients to be transported there has to be a particular transport system & there has to be solvent and as you know the solvent is water in respiratory system, can u dissolve nutrients in water & transport?

OpenStudy (somy):

+ what are you going to use as a road to your nutrient's destination? can u used lungs? larynx? pharynx? trachea? bronchi? bronchioles? can you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im sorry i missed you @Somy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait, CAN you dissolve nutrients into water to transport them? i thought you could

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in fact, isnt that what your stomach acids do?

OpenStudy (somy):

ofc you can but respiratory system has nothing to do with it

OpenStudy (somy):

and no, stomach is where the food is mixed up and turned into chyme to ease further digestion then everything is digested and now you end up with monosaccharides & disaccharides, amino acids, fat droplets etc so now these ones are the ones that are going to be transported throughout the body

OpenStudy (somy):

and since our body has water everywhere, water is the solvent and nutrients are mainly transported in blood which obviously has water in it

OpenStudy (somy):

in other words your choice D is correct one while A has no relation to nutrient transport or any kind of transport really the only thing is has to do with, it uptake of O2 from air - provide it to body- to capillaries by diffusion to be specific (through alveolar wall of alveoli -air sacs) and release CO2 out of the body by taking it from capillaries (since they bring and take away gases for circulation) again by diffusion according to partial pressures and into alveoli - and out from the body
