OpenStudy (phi):

your expression is not a binomial (bi meaning 2 as in bicycle (2 wheels) or biannual (2 years) )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how can we spand this using pascal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

expand*

OpenStudy (phi):

you could do this. start with (a+b+c)^4 and write it as (a+d)^4 where d is (b+c) now expand (a+d)^4 \[ a^4 + 4a^3 d + 6a^2d^2 + 4 a d^3 + d^4\] next we expand the d's for example d^4 is (b+c)^4 so \[ d^4= (b+c)^4= b^4 + 4b^3 c + 6b^2c^2 + 4 b c^3 + c^4\] do the same for the other power of d's finally, replace a, b and c witth (2x^2), (-1/3 y), and (z) expand, collect like terms,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this pascal?

OpenStudy (phi):

you use pascal's triangle to find the coefficients 1,4,6,4,1
