PLEASE HELP! ROLE: Any element in family 18 (the noble gases) AUDIENCE: Any element in families 1–17 FORMAT: A letter TOPIC: Write a letter answering the question, "Why won’t you bond with me?" Be creative and give specific details!

OpenStudy (somy):

oh sounds interesting so, did u write anything yet? & whats your doubt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Somy I'm just not sure what the numbers are for, and if they're for the periodic table. I have no idea how the periodic table works because no one ever taught it to me. I guess I'm just a little confused as to what exactly needs to happen to get this done.

OpenStudy (somy):

ah alright i'll teach you then are you there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Somy I am now.

OpenStudy (somy):

http://prntscr.com/6gorlh

OpenStudy (somy):

family 18 is basically group 8 noble gases

OpenStudy (somy):

those are the atoms/elements that are originally in full octet state

OpenStudy (somy):

in other words they have 8 electrons on their last shell (except Helium because maximum number of electrons Helium can fill up is 2 and it already has that much thus also is in that group)

OpenStudy (somy):

do you get it so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. So the 18 group thingy is the purpley blue spot at the end?

OpenStudy (somy):

yes the last column

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Another question. Is there a reason I'd be writing about the 1-17 family not bonding with the 18 family thing? Like do they not bond well together, or what?

OpenStudy (somy):

yep im coming to it question for you how does a bond form? in general what kind of bonds do u know of?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

h2o and o2... I literally had no one teach me this before. Not once did periodic tables make an appearance in school for me.

OpenStudy (somy):

sorry had to go for a bit

OpenStudy (somy):

hmm so you dont know anything about periodic table nor about bonds?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nothing.

OpenStudy (somy):

hmmmm

OpenStudy (somy):

well lets learn then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay. Thanks for helping. :)

OpenStudy (somy):

but i'll want you to come here http://www.twiddla.com/2035268

OpenStudy (somy):

its easier to teach here since i'll constantly be drawing on periodic table
