PLZzz HEELLLP!!!! will rewarrd with metal!!

OpenStudy (rizags):

alrite, so to begin, we will isolate that right triangle marked off with the little angle thing

OpenStudy (rizags):

We know that, in that right triangle, one of the legs measures 22 ft, and the angle (adjacent) to it, meausres 9.2 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright

OpenStudy (rizags):

what would be our goal to find in this triangle?

OpenStudy (rizags):

tell me which length you thing we need to find in the right traingle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u mean the height??

OpenStudy (rizags):

yea, so we need to find that little part that looks like this:

OpenStudy (rizags):

|dw:1426312101923:dw|

OpenStudy (rizags):

in order to do that, we will use the trigonometric function of tangent, which is equal to OPPOSITE/ADJACENT

OpenStudy (rizags):

In this case, \[\tan 9.2=\frac{ x }{ 22 }\] where x is that unkown length i highlighted up there^

OpenStudy (rizags):

does this make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea so do i just multiply acrooss 9.2 and 22??

OpenStudy (rizags):

well, not exaclty. You see, that "tan" thing is a function, so keep the "tan 9.2" the way it is, and simply do this:\[x=(\tan 9.2)(22)\]

OpenStudy (rizags):

But REMEMBER! there is that length that we did not yet account for, which is the girl's height, or 5.6 feet. Therefore, your final answer is equal to \[x+5.6\] or \[(\tan 9.2)(22)+5.6\]

OpenStudy (rizags):

evaluate this in your calculator and tell me your result

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do i press tan on my calculator and then 22?? i tried it and said syntax error

OpenStudy (rizags):

press tan then 9.2, then multiply that RESULT by 22. then add 5.6 to that

OpenStudy (rizags):

tell me the result

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9.12!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

not an option though

OpenStudy (rizags):

no, that doesnt sound right i'm getting something else

OpenStudy (rizags):

plug this into the calculator: tan(9.2)*(22)+5.6

OpenStudy (rizags):

tell me the result

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i keep getting 9.2 );

OpenStudy (rizags):

9.2 is correct!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok thx!!

OpenStudy (rizags):

its answer d. the exact result yields about 9.16, which rounds to 9.2!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks a lot !!! can u help me with 2 more questions?? plz

OpenStudy (rizags):

sure yes, just post them as new questions and tag me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
