A barnacle species has a population density of 5,000 individuals per square meter. This means that one population of 5,000 barnacles will be one square meter from the next population of barnacles. True or False?
@shrutipande9
what do u think?
I think false only because i think the square mile will change
Yeah false. I believe the population density is kinda like the average of the population. It's not supposed to be precise. :D
@alyssa.ward2016 This is density, not distribution. Maybe the population is 2,500 barnacles in 0.5 square meters. That is still 5,000 per square meter. Or we could be talking about a HUGE area, maybe a square kilometer and square kilometer there is 1,000,000 square meters, in this area if you spread the barnacles out there would be 5,000 per square meter. HOWEVER, in reality all those barnacles could be packed into several groups, very distance from each other, in the total 1 square kilometer area.
