OpenStudy (18jonea):

Which of the following situations constitutes a way in which a population becomes geographically isolated enough to become a new species? A small population of humans colonizes the Moon. Drosophila persimilis breeds in the morning and Drosophila pseudoobscura breeds in the afternoon. The peawingspan no longer displays courting rituals. All of the above are correct. @My_Yich

whats up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

say if a tribe got seperated by a shift in the tectonic plates which made a new um country i guess and one worshiped the sun the other one would start experiencing with the opposite??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, mating is what keeps populations from speciating. If they cannot mate they will eventually have enough genetic differences to prevent this and we would call them a different species. If populations are separated by time how would they mate? What if one population stops showing signs that it will mate? Time, distance, and appearance/rituals can all prevent mating.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, of all those listed, which one could be a distance (geographic) isolation as opposed to time or ritual/appearance.
